Where Ambition Meets Compassion

Computers BYOD Policy

Technology plays a large role in our students’ lives. Personal devices can enhance and enrich learning opportunities both at home and school.

St Patrick’s College Townsville is committed to allowing responsible, learning-centred use of personal devices at school so as to provide as many pathways to understanding as possible for our students.

Access to the St Patrick’s College Townsville wireless network, whether with school-provided or personal devices, is filtered in compliance with St Patrick’s College Townsville Acceptable Use Policy. Access from personal devices such as an iPad or tablet will be limited to internet and email use only. Students with a Mac or PC laptop will have access to the internet and email as well as their Z:\ Drive.

The device must meet the following specifications:

    • -  11 inch screen or bigger
    • -  4GB of RAM minimum, 8GB preferred
    • -  Dual Core Processor minimum, Quad Core preferred
    • -  Windows 7 or Apple OSX 10 minimum, Windows 10 preferred
    • -  Fixed Keyboard with touchpad or wireless keyboard and mouse
    • -  The device must have a word processing application, a spreadsheet application and a video editing tool

Please note, whilst iPads and tablet devices will work in our environment, they are not recommended due to functionality issues such as no mouse or keyboard.
