Call in and visit us on Townsville’s Strand beachfront...Where Ambition Meets Compassion
A Ministry in Mercy Partners
St Patrick’s College Townsville has had a long and rich history since its establishment in 1878.
In 2020 we find ourselves once again making history as we respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
We invite you to join our History in Action Project, documenting the historically significant times we are living through.
The College will be collecting and compiling the personal experiences of students, staff, parents and friends in relation to this global health crisis that has changed the way we live, work and learn.
You can contribute by digitally submitting:
Why is recording this time important?
Collections such as this will provide valuable historical information for future generations, researchers and historians about how people experienced the social distancing measures imposed on society during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as its impacts upon society with regards to how we live, work and learn.
It will provide an outlet for individuals to process their experiences whilst also providing a platform to reflect upon the strength and resilience of our community as we emerge on the other side of this global pandemic.
What should I write about?
Consider how your life has changed as a result of COVID-19. In what ways have social distancing restrictions impacted your life and/or changed your lifestyle? How has your work or schooling environment changed? Are there things that have surprised you about your experiences or things that you might take away and try to implement in your new routine once COVID-19 restrictions end? What have you seen/done/experienced that has been different to your regular lifestyle? How does this situation make you feel?
What should I take photos or videos of?
Anything and everything! The changes you have had to make around your home, your new work or learning from home space, signage and/or directions for maintaining social distancing. Empty spaces that would normally be full of people exercising, socialising and/or working. Anything that catches your eye about how life has changed within your home or community.
What will these submissions be used for?
As an important chapter in our College history, it is hoped that this collection will be made available for our community to access in the future. Collections of a similar nature have been made available for online access, as exhibitions and publications.
As Intelligent, Confident and Active women of the future we must honour the past as custodians of our College history. Together, we can help to write the next chapter!
Please complete the submission form below and attach files as required, or email submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
