Year 7 Transition

To ensure a smooth transition for our incoming Year 7 cohort, they will be invited to participate in two key events -  Year 7 Experience Day and our Orientation Day.

YEAR 7 EXPERIENCE DAY

Experience Day takes place in Term 4 (the year students are in Year 6). New enrolled students are welcomed to the Auditorium and met by our College Principal, Ms Hauff, and the Head of Year 7, Ms Henderson.  Parents/guardians are asked to stay for a morning tea, and an information session to prepare for Year 7. The students will engage in a number of activities with other members of their House and cohort. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to begin creating relationships with others, as well as experiencing the College Campus. Details regarding Year 7 Experience Day will be emailed out to enrolled families closer to the date.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION DAY

Orientation Day takes place the day before school starts. Orientation Day is an exciting day for our Year 7s, and new Year 8 students. Our Year 12 students are "Big Sisters" to the incoming Year 7s in our "Big Sister/Little Sister Program". Year 12 students welcome all the new students and move into House areas where they will engage in a variety of games and activities to help new students feel confident and  comfortable. Orientation Day will also provide new students with the opportunity to set up their laptops, timetables and familiarise themselves with using their lockers.

Year 7 Experience Day in Term 4 and Orientation Day at the start of the school year, allow new students two full days at the campus to become familiar with the environment and prepare for their first academic day the following day, when the whole College community will begin classes.

Acknowledgement of Country: We give thanks and respectfully acknowledge the Wulgurukaba people, the Traditional Custodians of this beautiful country whose land our College shares. We recognise their ongoing deep spiritual connection to this Country, and the care they gave for thousands of years. We also acknowledge the Bindal people as the neighbouring Custodians of their Country. We pay our respects to the Elders, past, present and emerging and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples here today.
