FUTURES & LEADERSHIP SYMPOSIUM

If you or your organisation would like to be involved in the 2027 Futures & Leadership Symposium, please contact our Dean of Pathways, Ms Camille Flores, at cflores@stpatscollege.qld.edu.au.

The inaugural Futures & Leadership Symposium was created to equip Year 10 and Year 12 students with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world. Held across two inspiring days, the Symposium brought together leading experts, industry professionals and community leaders to challenge students to think boldly about their future pathways, leadership potential and the opportunities available to them beyond school.

The day was filled with inspiration, insight and practical advice as students heard from an incredible line-up of leaders and changemakers, including renowned futurist Simon Kuestenmacher, JBWere's Head of Investments Gillian Gordon, Townsville Chamber of Commerce CEO Emma Peters, Townsville Fire Coach Shannon Seebohm, Magistrate Jess Keir and ADF Brigadier Fern Thompson CSC.

The Symposium also featured a series of practical, hands-on workshops designed to develop essential life skills. Sessions included financial literacy with Carey Group, nutrition and wellbeing with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, car maintenance with Tyrepower, renting rights with Whaites + Co, and resume writing and scholarship guidance led by College staff.

The Futures & Leadership Symposium reflected the College's commitment to preparing students not only for academic achievement, but also for life beyond the classroom. The success of the inaugural event established a strong foundation for a program that will continue to inspire and empower future generations of students.

Acknowledgement of Country: We give thanks and respectfully acknowledge the Wulgurukaba people, the Traditional Custodians of this beautiful country whose land our College shares. We recognise their ongoing deep spiritual connection to this Country, and the care they gave for thousands of years. We also acknowledge the Bindal people as the neighbouring Custodians of their Country. We pay our respects to the Elders, past and present, and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples here today.
