Kirsten Anderson

Head of House - Powers
Teacher - English

With a passion for creative writing and travel literature, Kirsten has been a welcome presence at St Patrick’s College, following a career that has seen her teach at Canberra Grammar School, Toowoomba Grammar School and Lytchett Minster School in Dorset, UK. Hailing from the UK, our English rose is a dive master, a Rugby Union fan and an avid marathon runner. In 2019 Kirsten presented at the International Colloquium on Languages, Culture and Identity hosted by the Loyola Marymount University School of Education in Spain. Kirsten has been leading professional development workshops within the College on student well-being and behaviour management. Her research in this area saw her receive a nomination for a Spirit of Catholic Education Award in 2019. A highlight for Kirsten has been her involvement with the World Challenge program, which has seen her supporting students in Thailand, Cambodia and most recently, Nepal.

Elissa Andrews

Teacher - Religion & Learning Enrichment

With more than 20 years teaching experience, Elissa is a much loved and passionate teacher who has taught and formed thousands of young people across North Queensland. Previously working at Marian Catholic School in Townsville and St Kieran’s Catholic School in Mt Isa, she is excited to join St Patrick’s College Townsville in 2020. Elissa is an incredibly experienced and passionate teacher who is committed to engaging young people in their learning, helping them achieve success and grow in confidence. She has a passion for Religious Education, English and The Arts. A local at heart, Elissa grew up in Townsville but spent time abroad teaching in London. She is a busy mum of four and enjoys spending her time at The Strand and relaxing with her family at home.

Jay Burmeister

Head of Department - Digital Literacy

With over ten years’ teaching experience in IT, Mathematics and Physics, Jay has also lectured in IT at the University of Queensland and Griffith University. Jay has a PhD in Cognitive Science which is an inter-disciplinary field of study including Artificial Intelligence (Computer Science) and Cognitive Psychology. Jay delivers professional development to local teachers as a member of the Queensland Society for Information Technology in Education (QSITE). After school, Jay runs Coding Club in which girls write code for a variety of hardware devices such as LEGO Mindstorm EV3 robots, Arduino robots, micro:bits, and drones. In 2018 Jay was awarded the QSITE Educator of the Year.

Phillip Campbell

Teacher - Maths & Science

Phillip spent most of his education career in Victoria and unsurprisingly has a love of AFL. He is currently completing a Level 2 AFL Coach accreditation and enjoys working with students to improve their sporting skills. Phillip has held many high level positions throughout his extensive career including Head Teacher, Campus Coordinator, Deputy Principal and Principal. For the past four years Phillip has been the highly dedicated Head of Department for the Heatley Adult Secondary College. He joins the St Patrick’s College Townsville team in 2020 for Term 1.

Kelli Chapman

Head of Faculty - Humanities

Kelli is passionate about teaching both Modern and Ancient History, in particular women’s and Indigenous history and her enthusiasm is brought to the classroom through her creative pedagogy. Kelli is in her 17th year of teaching and has held several roles over the past 14 years at St Patrick’s College including Pastoral Coordinator for Years 10-12. She has also taught Dance and HPE backed by her Bachelor of Human Movement Science. Kelli is a member of the QCAA district panel for Modern History and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. In 2019 Kelli presented at the Queensland History Teachers Association state conference about how popular music can be used to engage History students.

Zoey Fellows

Head of Faculty - Religion

With experience working in both secondary and tertiary education for over a decade, Zoey comes to us with wide ranging professional experience and exceptional personal qualifications. She holds several university degrees including Masters in both Education and Theology, Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching, and a Graduate Certificate of Catholic Education, as well as a Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology. Prior to joining St Patrick’s College as Head of Faculty - Religion, Zoey held positions in secondary schools including Assistant Principal Religious Education and Head of Faculty - Humanities, as well sessional lecturer at James Cook University. Zoey is passionate about the education of young women, and in particular how an understanding of the world’s religious traditions can help young women navigate politics, law and culture in a globalised society.

Camille Flores

Teacher - Food Technology

Growing up in a family who ran successful hospitality ventures, Camille says her passion for business comes naturally. Camille’s extensive experience working for many years in hospitality, management, recruitment and HR make her an expert teacher, who draws on her skills to create engaging and significant learning experiences for her students. In addition to her Bachelor of Education, Camille has a Bachelor of Business (Management and Human Resources Management), a Cert IV Training & Assessment and a Cert III Food & Beverage. After a short hiatus while Camille had her third child, Camille is excited to be returning to the College in 2020.

Harriet Geater-Johnson

Head of Department - Visual Arts & Exhibitions

Born in London, Harriet completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Printmaking and went on to work in publishing. In 2007 she moved to Australia with her husband (who is in the Air Force) and has moved every two years since, arriving in Townsville in December 2016. In Australia, Harriet went on to complete her Masters in Art Education and has taught for ten years in South Australia, Victoria, NSW and now Queensland. Harriet has exhibited in both Australia and overseas, including at ‘Sculpture at Scenic World’ in the Blue Mountains, NSW. In 2017 she exhibited in Townsville’s Strand Ephemera. Harriet is passionate about arts, culture and travel and she is a welcome presence to the Visual, Dramatic & Co-Curricular Arts Faculty at St Patrick’s College Townsville.

Johnathon Goulter

Head of Department - Music & Performance

Leaving school, Johnathon and his friends decided to start a demolition company which he ran for a few years as well as a personal training business. Eventually he decided to follow his passion for music and travelled to Russia, India and Japan to study their cultural music heritage. He completed his Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts (Music and Languages) at Australian Catholic University and also gained his Australian Kodaly Qualifications. In 2019, Johnathon presented at the International Kodaly Society Symposium and has since published with the International Kodaly Society Journal on the use of indigenous songs and culture in the music class room. Having been with the College since 2018, Johnathon hopes his love for music will be contagious, empowering his students to be compassionate and to make a positive impact in our world.

Tenille Hambly

Head of Year 12
Teacher - HPE & Sport

Tenille graduated from the Queensland University of Technology in 2004 with a Bachelor of Education majoring in Human Movement. After working in boys’ schools for more than ten years, including St Laurence’s College in Brisbane and Ignatius Park College Townsville, Tenille made the move to St Patrick’s College in 2018 as Sports Coordinator and Head of Faculty for HPE. A particular highlight of her 16-year teaching career has been her appointment in London as the Lead Teacher of ‘The Learning Zone’, a program which operated out of Wembley Stadium and incorporated football to engage students in learning. Tenille is a very active person having been involved in athletics at local, state and national levels. Her sporting achievements were recognised in 2000 when she was awarded the Pierre De Coubertin award for demonstrating Olympic qualities and spirit. Outside of school Tenille is a busy mum of three. She enjoys the beach and loves to run when she has the opportunity. In 2020 Tenille takes on the new position of Head of Year 12, providing support to our senior students.

Lara Hansen

Teacher - Legal Studies, Business & HPE

Ever since she was a teenager, Lara has loved to travel. She studied in Canada as an exchange student and has since visited every state and territory in Australia as well as extensively abroad to over 17 countries. Her interests in culture and world affairs, in particularly the role of the United Nations and civil rights, make her a passionate Legal Studies teacher. An expert HPE teacher, Lara models an active and healthy lifestyle for her students, regularly enjoying yoga, meditation, wakeboarding and of course, doing ‘The Hill’. Our Business students love learning from her first hand experiences working in real estate, sales and marketing with Channel Nine, and owning and managing her own business. Lara has over five years teaching experience, formerly working at Ipswich State High School, Kirwan State High School and William Ross State High School, where she was a leader in the Netball Sports Excellence Program. She is a proud mum of two and loves spending time with her family.

Meg Henderson

Teacher - HPE, Humanities & Religion

When Meg began as a teacher at St Patrick’s College Townsville in 2019, she said it felt like ‘coming home’. A proud alumnus graduating from the College in 2001, Meg has retained strong friendships with her graduating cohort over the years and values the importance of developing a network of strong, powerful, independent women from an early age. With over 14 years Teaching experience formerly of St Kieran’s Catholic School in Mt Isa and Marian Catholic School in Townsville, Meg brings with her a wealth of knowledge and a specialty interest in working with junior students during some of the most important transitions of their lives. She is a busy mum of three and loves to maintain an active lifestyle as an open-water swimmer.

Sherri-Lee Hudson

Teacher - Humanities & English

Sherri-Lee loves all things history, from the Medieval period to the World Wars. She has a particular passion for combining literature studies with history, and encourages her students to explore a wide variety of genres, including Historical Fiction, which is a personal favourite. Staying physically active is also important to Sherri-Lee, having been involved in dance, drama and sports since she was a student herself. She particularly enjoyed assisting with dance choreography and rehearsals for the 2019 Combined Schools Musical, The Addams Family. Sherri-Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts (History and English) and a Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Adelaide, Master of Teaching (Secondary) from the University of South Australia and a Certificate III Fitness.

Karen Hyne

Teacher - English & Humanities

Karen has worked with Education Queensland for 32 years, having previously taught at Blackwater State High School, Gladstone State High School and Pimlico State High School. She is passionate about teaching English, Humanities, and History at both the junior and senior level. Karen enjoys combining her wealth of knowledge, life’s experiences and travelling stories to bring a personal touch and relevance to the curriculum at hand. Moreover, she enjoys seeing her students grow through competing in local and nationally recognised academic competitions and challenges. When not involved with schoolwork, she is involved with her family’s business, e-commerce, and non-fiction writing. She is an active supporter of a number of charities including Relay For Life and Dragons Abreast Townsville, and she regularly attends the NQ Cowboys and the JCU Townsville Fire.

James Jellyman

Teacher - Music & Mathematics

James comes from a long line of musicians and learnt trumpet from his father. He has had a passion for music from a young age and has been heavily involved in music for more than two thirds of his life. He loves all things music from Beyonce to Beethoven, Pink to Palestrina. In 2017, James completed a double Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts majoring in Music at Avondale College, NSW. James has played in many community and semi-professional orchestras, concert bands, church groups, jazz bands, musicals, and choirs. He has a particular interest in English-style brass bands and has played with the NSW Central Coast Brass Band (A Grade State Champions 2015 and 2016, Australian A Grade Champions 2017), along with many other community ensembles. He is currently playing with Townsville Brass Band. James also has a special interest in mathematics and enjoys how the two disciplines of music and maths overlap. "As a teacher I like the way that the logical sequences and sureness of maths balance out the creativity and subjectiveness of music".

Alyssa Kelly

Head of Department - Dramatic Arts & Performance

With a teaching career spanning 20 years, Alyssa has worked in secondary colleges across North and North-West Queensland, specialising in Drama, Music and English. She has also worked in tertiary education, lecturing at James Cook University in Effective Speaking and Folk Singing. Outside of school, Alyssa provides private singing and instrumental tuition. She was an actor with Tropic Line and Hard Sun Theatre Companies and has also directed Little Shop of Horrors for the NQOMT. In 2019 Alyssa played the lead role of Elphaba in Wicked and directed the hugely successful Combined Schools Musical, The Addams Family. Alyssa is excited to be directing the acclaimed Year 12 Curriculum play, Paper Sky, for Townsville Little Theatre in September 2020.

Anna Kendall

Teacher - Japanese

With a Bachelor of Languages majoring in Japanese and a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education, Anna has had over five years’ teaching experience. Working abroad, she taught English at Yokohama Sogakukan High School in Japan, fully immersing herself in Japanese culture and language. Anna worked at Northern Beaches High School for three years before joining the dedicated teaching team at St Patrick’s College Townsville in 2019. She is passionate about fostering a love of languages in her students and supporting them to become global citizens. A highlight for Anna in 2019 was the Japanese Study Tour which saw her accompany 13 senior students to experience firsthand the diversity of Japanese culture. As a busy mum of two, Anna enjoys spending time with her family outside of school.

Rosie Maguire

Teacher - English & Drama

Rosie has always had a passion for the performing arts. Growing up in Brisbane, she attended Lourdes Hill where she was heavily involved in drama performances. Her passion eventually led her to study a double degree in Secondary Education and Creative Arts at the University of Queensland. Upon graduation, Rosie jumped at the opportunity of a regional experience and relocated North to Columba Catholic College in Charters Towers. Rosie spent four years inspiring students in Drama, English, Humanities, Dance and Chinese, as well as directing Back to The 80s, the highly acclaimed College Musical. A keen sportswoman, Rosie coaches Netball, Rugby League, Touch and AFL. In 2019, she was the recipient of the Regional Teacher Mentorship scholarship at the Bell Shakespeare Company in Sydney. St Patricks College Townsville is delighted to welcome Rosie to our dedicated teaching team in 2020. "I am thrilled to be a part of a community that champions young women and helps them realise it’s ok to be loud and to take up space in the world."

Gerard Marano

Teacher - Drama & Religion

As an actor, Gerard brings his passion for performance to the classroom, inspiring students with his love for the arts. Gerard has been acting for almost all of his 25 year teaching career. Some of his recent performances include NQOMT’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and Full Throttle’s Displaced. Gerard has worked as a film director, visual artist and freelance cartoonist. He has been a member of the NQOMT, the Burdekin Singers and the Townsville Choral Society. Gerard has taught in Catholic schools in Townsville and Ayr, at St Michael’s School in Sydney and at St Thomas Moore’s in Canberra. Aside from his love of the arts, Gerard loves a game of golf and is a soccer player and coach.

Hannah Martens

Teacher - Economics, Business, Mathematics

In 2013, after completing a Bachelor of Business, Hannah worked for two years in Human Resources processing payroll and employment contracts and spent four years in management at Event Cinemas. In 2018, Hannah embarked on a career change and after completing her Bachelor of Education at Griffith University, she joined St Patrick’s College, Townsville. Hannah has a passion for creating an environment which promotes student-centred learning and collaboration, and in 2020 she will be teaching Economics, Start Up and Mathematics as well as Certificate III Business. Outside of the classroom, Hannah has a keen interest in travelling and sports, playing in local touch football competitions and supporting Queensland Rugby League teams. Hannah also enjoys sharing her passion for sport with the students at the College by regularly coaching various Block Sport teams.

Grant McGregor

Head of Faculty - Mathematics & Digital Technologies

Grant completed his Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemistry) and Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning at the Queensland University of Technology in 1994. After teaching Mathematics and Aerospace Studies at Townsville State High School for two years, Grant joined St Patrick’s College in 2019. As a Mathematics teacher Grant draws on his real-life experiences from his former career as a Chemical Engineer and Technology Manager leading a team of engineers to deliver plant and project improvements. His lessons are always engaging and significant to real-world problems. Grant is especially passionate about engaging all students in mathematics and science to open exciting career opportunities to enrich their lives and our community. In 2020, as the Head of Faculty - Mathematics & Digital Technologies, Grant will continue the College’s position as a Gold Maths Active School and the "Say YES To Mathematics" program, initiated at the College in 2019. Outside of the classroom you will find Grant spending time with his family and two children, reading, playing guitar or practising his martial arts, of which he is a Black Belt in Choi Kwang-Do.

Riley Mete

Teacher - Maths & Science

A North Queensland girl through and through, Riley grew up in Atherton and attended Atherton State High School where she developed a passion for mathematics and science. Riley moved to Townsville following high school to compete her Bachelor of Secondary Education at James Cook University, during which time she worked as a Boarding Supervisor at St Patrick’s College Townsville. She has become a familiar, welcoming face at the College over the past eighteen months, building strong relationships with many of the boarding students and staff. In 2020 Riley joins our STEM Teaching Team, continuing to model the importance of women working in the STEM field. Outside of school, Riley loves to travel. In 2018 she volunteered at a Cambodian school teaching English. Riley is excited to begin her career at St Patrick’s College Townsville.

Conni Mosch

Teacher - English & Religion

A well-known and loved teacher, Conni has been at St Patrick’s College since the late ‘90s and is one of the coordinators of the College’s very successful debating teams. Conni has taught at St Mary’s in Charters Towers, Ryan Catholic College and Life Education. She has also worked as a Counsellor and this experience shines through in her teaching and in her relationships with students. Conni says she loves watching the girls become confident and articulate through participating in opportunities such as debating, drama, performance and public speaking events.

Lisa Mowbray

Head of House - Princes
Teacher - Science, Biology & Mathematics

Lisa is passionate about women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and has more than 15 years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse and a Laboratory Scientist in the oil and gas industry, including on off-shore oil rigs. Lisa decided on a change of career, taking her passion for STEM into the classroom. Lisa teaches Science, Biology, Mathematics and Certificate III in Health Services.

With a Bachelor of Human Movement Science, a Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary and VET), and a Cert IV Training and Assessment, Lauren has had over six years teaching experience in Queensland and the Northern Territory. Having previously taught at Pimlico State High School and Nhulunbuy High School in North-East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, Lauren has extensive experience not only as a classroom teacher, but also within VET and Learning Support Programs. During her time in the NT Lauren became very involved with many Indigenous cultures and traditions, in particular those of the Yolngu People of the Arnhem Land region. Lauren continues her passion supporting students from diverse backgrounds in her current role as Indigenous Support Program Leader at St Patrick’s College. Lauren has lived in Townsville for 7 years, running two successful retail businesses prior to her teaching career. You will often find Lauren outdoors during her spare time, whether it be camping with her family, or building fences and gardening.

Tracy Nioa

Tracy has been teaching for more than 25 years and has a particular specialisation in inclusive education. For Tracy, there is nothing more important than seeing students from all abilities succeed and enjoy their education. She loves learning about student diversity and working closely with the College’s experienced Teacher Aide team to support students to embrace every opportunity. A lover of great Australian literature, Tracy enjoys reading in her spare time, as well as maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle gardening, cycling and walking The Strand and Castle Hill. Tracy and her husband have five children, all based in Victoria, whom she visits regularly.

Jacqui O'Shea

A highly practiced educator with more than 22 years teaching experience, Jacqui has inspired many thousands of North Queensland students in the field of STEM. Prior to her career in teaching, Jacqui worked as an AQIS Quarantine Officer with the Department of Primary Industries in Townsville, a Scientific Assistant in Veterinary Entomology and a Zoology Tutor at James Cook University. Her extensive industry experience makes her an expert in her field, delivering relevant and exciting lessons in Science, Chemistry and Biology that build upon real-life and current industry scenarios. You will find Jacquie enjoying the beautiful North Queensland lifestyle fishing on the Great Barrier Reef in her boat.

Phil Oram

Teacher - Senior French

Growing up in Europe, Phil spent a great deal of time living in England, France and Germany and developed an appreciation for language and communication. At the age of 28 he ventured to Australia where he met his wife and decided to stay. He holds a Masters in Applied Linguistics and has taught languages abroad as well as in Australia. While he is fluent in French, German and English, French holds a special place in Phil’s heart and he loves to share the language and culture with his students. He has led over twenty language-homestay tours throughout his career and believes that learning another language is an opportunity for students to explore their own language from new perspectives. An avid bushwalker, Phil spends his spare time hiking, cooking and generally enjoying life with his family.

Chris Pacey

Head of Faculty - Science & Technology

Following a 20 year career as a Marine Biologist and Senior Ranger, Chris decided on a change of career, becoming a secondary Science and Mathematics Teacher. Chris has designed and implemented our Marine Science program which has achieved exceptional outcomes, including receiving Advanced Standing for students completing a future bachelor’s degree in Marine Science at James Cook University. In 2016 Chris was awarded the Peter Doherty Outstanding Teacher of STEM award, he contributed to the College’s 2018 nomination of the Prime Minister's Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Secondary Schools, and in 2019 he was a finalist for Department Head of the Year in the Australian Education Awards. Chris is committed to fostering passion and enthusiasm for the environment and developing informed global citizens.

Gayle Pollard

Gayle has been teaching for 42 years - and all at St Patrick’s College! Over the years, Gayle has taught many subjects including Religion and Chemistry, however she is most passionate about teaching Mathematics and raising the profile of the subject as part of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Gayle is also a Pastoral Care Room teacher and is a powerhouse of knowledge about the history of the College. A committed Catholic, Gayle is actively involved in her parish and assists with liturgy at the College. Gayle’s infectious laugh and deep commitment to her students means she is much loved and respected by her colleagues and students, both current and former.

Amy Plumridge

Now in her eighth year of teaching, Amy Plumridge is our Head of Faculty - English & Languages. Amy has a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) majoring in English with a minor in Drama. Amy believes that fostering creativity enables young learners to be innovative, to embrace change and to find brilliant solutions to challenges. In 2019 Amy presented at the Annual State Conference for the English Teachers Association of Queensland. She also completed a mentorship with the Bell Shakespeare Theatre Company in Sydney. Before moving into teaching, Amy was a personal trainer and group fitness instructor and she is a fully qualified yoga teacher.

Megan Qualischefski

Teacher - Drama & Religion

Townsville born and bred, Megan has been a teacher for more than 18 years, specialising in Religion, Drama, Dance and English. Megan has previously taught at William Ross State High School, St Margaret Mary’s College and Newlands Girls’ School in Maidenhead, England. Megan’s passion is dance! She has spent more than 30 years choreographing local musicals for N.Q.O.M.T and the Townsville Choral Society, including performances of Jesus Christ Superstar, Spamalot, Singin’ in the Rain, Evita and My Fair Lady. Megan particularly enjoyed choreographing the 2019 Combined Schools Musical, The Addams Family. Megan holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship), Graduate Certificate of Theology, and is currently completing her Masters of Religious Education.

Catherine Rentoule

Head of Faculty - Careers & Vocational Education

Before becoming a teacher, Catherine worked as a nurse, in hospitality and in the horticultural industry in places as diverse as London, Israel, Thursday Island, Sydney and Alice Springs. Catherine has been teaching for 25 years, eleven of which have been with St Patrick’s College. She has taught in schools in Townsville, the Northern Territory and NSW. She holds a Master of Education (ESL & VET) and has a Certificate IV Career Development. As the Head of Faculty for Careers, Vocational Education and Hospitality, Catherine’s diverse career background helps her to assist students in discovering their future pathways. Catherine also teaches Senior History, English, EALD (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) and Certificate II Health and Community Services.

Sue Rheinberger

Sue has been a welcoming face at St Patrick’s College Townsville for more than 30 years. A dedicated teacher of English, Geography, History and Legal Studies, she is a wealth of knowledge and has nurtured and educated thousands of young women. An advocate of learning about the world out in the world, Sue loves to organise local, North Queensland and international excursions to actively encourage students to participate as local and global citizens. She believes that all students should strive to be ‘unashamedly excellent’ both in the classroom and beyond, and has been instrumental in countless extracurricular activities including Rock Eisteddfod, Optiminds, Lions Youth of the Year, Rostrum and the Reef Guardian Program, just to name a few. A keen traveller and lover of nature, Sue has trekked many of the world’s landscapes, climbed volcanoes in Japan and helped revegetate tropical rainforests. In her quieter moments, she loves music, movies, theatre, reading, gardening and family life.

With over 12 years teaching experience, St Patrick’s College Townsville is excited to welcome Dan to our teaching team in 2020. Having previously worked at Townsville State High School and Shalom Christian College, Dan has demonstrated strong pastoral and academic skills in his roles as Senior School Coordinator and Acting Senior School Head of Department. He has significant experience developing and implementing curriculum built upon evidence based research and whole-school data. A passionate mathematics teacher, Dan believes sequential thinking fostered by STEM education helps to create structured, logical and contemporary minded individuals who are work-place ready. Outside of school, Dan loves to travel whenever he can and he enjoys a wide variety of music.

Jaimee Seebohm

Head of House - Thrones

Jaimee began her career as a professional basketballer in 2005, attending the Australian Institute of Sport for three years before later representing Australia at a Junior level and playing for the Sydney University Flames WNBL until 2013. A career change saw her complete a Bachelor Degree in Human Movement and Health Education at The University of Sydney, graduating with the Vice Chancellor’s Award. Since then she has worked in education for eight years, teaching at SCEGGS Redlands, St Andrew’s Cathedral School in Sydney and St Francis Xavier College Hamilton in New Castle. A passionate HPE and Mathematics teacher, Jaimee joined the College in 2019 and has been a welcome and enthusiastic addition to the team. In 2020, Jaimee continues to support students as the Head of Thrones House.

Belinda Semola

A graduate teacher from the University of Adelaide, Belinda relocated from Adelaide Hills, South Australia in 2020 to begin her career at St Patrick’s College Townsville. Her passion for teaching lies in History, Humanities and English, and the burning desire to make a difference in the lives of young women, helping them to grown into strong, independent and confident individuals. Belinda strives to be a walking example of inspiration for students facing challenging environments and circumstances. She firmly believes, “With a combination of support, perseverance and hard work all students can be successful in fulfilling their own academic success and happiness.” She is enjoying exploring all that North Queensland has to offer and is excited to be involved in local sporting clubs, in particularly Netball.

Jordan has quickly become a powerhouse of the STEM Department since joining our team in 2018. She completed her Bachelor of Education (Secondary) in 2017 and specialises in Chemistry, Biology and Junior Science. In 2019 Jordan was a finalist for the Australian Education Award’s ‘Education Rising Star’. She is passionate about STEM and says she is excited to be in a teaching environment that actively promotes girls in science and prepares students for careers in the STEM fields. In 2020 Jordan is looking forward to inspiring her students to be critical and creative thinkers.

With a background in media and marketing, Sandra worked throughout Australia for companies such as Unilever, BP and the University of New South Wales, as well as for the Daily Mail when she lived in the United Kingdom. Her extensive business and marketing experience lent itself well to a career change in 2013, which saw Sandra apply her real-life expertise to a teaching degree specialising in Business & Economics, Civics & Citizenship, Senior Geography, Junior History and Religion. Outside of school, Sandra enjoys spending time with her family and exploring all that North Queensland has to offer.

Lucy Towers

Head of House - Dominations

Lucy emigrated from England in 2014 and spent her first six months in Australia travelling before settling in Western Australia for three years. Lucy comes to us following an 11-year career that has seen her teach at Sandbach Sports College in the UK, as well as at Calvary Christian College in Townsville and extensively in WA at St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, and St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls, where she worked as a sports coach. She brings with her experience as an athletics and gymnastics coach, as well as a teaching passion for Physical Education, Sports and Dance. Lucy is excited to continue her role as Head of House for Dominations in 2020.

A practicing and devout Catholic from New South Wales, Harriett came to the College in 2019 after relocating to tropical North Queensland. Harriett is the epitome of mercy in action. She is heavily involved with the Townsville Catholic community and regularly attends retreats that strengthen her spirituality, including World Youth Day and the Australian Catholic Youth Festival. Harriett loves to travel and has visited more than 40 countries as well as lived abroad in the Cayman Islands. She is passionate about supporting and ministering the youth to live a fruitful, spiritual and positive lifestyle.

Jonathan Wallace

Teacher - Mathematics

Born and raised in Charters Towers, Jonathan has a love of community and an enormous respect for the rural way of life. He completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at James Cook University Townsville in 2011, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Education in 2013. Jonathan lived and worked in Mount Isa for four years at Good Shepherd Catholic College before relocating to Canberra where he worked at Radford College. With a passion for mathematics and physics education and over six years teaching experience, the College was delighted to welcome Jonathan in 2019. He is a lover of coffee and great food and has enjoyed returning to the regional lifestyle Townsville has to offer. A football enthusiast and coach, you will find Jonathan afterhours at the Ross River Football Club where he is currently a coach and coordinator.

Ben Williams

Head of Faculty - Heath & Physical Education & Sport

With seven years teaching practice, Ben is a very experienced Senior Biology and HPE Teacher. Having previously worked at Townsville State High School, as well as Southport State High School and The Southport School on the Gold Coast, Ben joins St Patricks College Townsville as Acting Head of Faculty - HPE & Sport in 2020. Prior to his career in teaching, Ben ran a very successful personal-training business where he used his knowledge and skills to make a difference in the lives of disengaged young people in mainstream schooling. He models a healthy, active lifestyle for our girls and is heavily involved in a multitude of sports. Having previously held roles such as North Queensland Representative Assistant Coach for Basketball, and Coach in various AFL competitions, Ben has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and sportsmanship. He is accredited in the Berry Street Education Model and embraces a positive behaviour management approach when working with young people as they navigate their schooling journey.

Lizzie Wood

Head of Year 7
Teacher - HPE

With nearly ten years of teaching experience across primary and secondary education, Lizzie has national and international experience in competitive sport, physical education and educational leadership in curriculum and pastoral domains. She has previously worked at Townsville Grammar School and Chidham Primary School in England, where she led Health and Physical Education and facilitated the transition of upper primary into secondary education. Lizzie has a Masters in Educational Leadership. She is passionate about fitness and the successful transition and growth of students as they progress into their secondary education. Taking on the role of Head of Year 7 in 2019, Lizzie has developed successful executive functioning workshops as well launched a unique personal development program, the Healthy Fearless Women Project, to support all girls new to St Patrick’s College. Away from school, she continues to coach touch football across a school club and regional level.
